The Photo Process

Each photo is a unique, hand-crafted, archival silver image created directly on 5”x7” fiber-based paper. They have a weight, a substantial look and feel very different from the photos you are likely used to seeing. This is because the visual information is metallic silver in the surface, not ink sitting on top. These are images that will be handed down from generation to generation. Like many vintage photography processes made in-camera, they are reversed right-to-left.

There is no enlargement, so the camera has to accommodate the full size print. This means a BIG camera. Also, the film stock requires a huge amount of light to register the image. Don’t worry, we’ve got it covered!

At present, photo sessions are done in the evening after 6pm and take approximately two-three hours wherein five portraits will be made. The process works best with one to two people. Images are viewable in minutes, (you can even see the images develop!) and are ready to take home in a few days. We can mail you your finished prints.
